A continuaci\u00f3n se presentan extractos del informe escrito por el bailar\u00edn principal de la Danza del Sol, Tom Cook, que en noviembre de 2018 completar\u00e1 su 50\u00aa Danza del Sol. Cuando se le pregunt\u00f3 si hab\u00eda llegado el momento de retirarse, respondi\u00f3: \"Lo har\u00eda, excepto por mis nietos. Quiero continuar por ellos para que puedan seguirme en el c\u00edrculo. El c\u00edrculo de la vida...\".<\/p>\n<p>Este a\u00f1o 2018 ha marcado el trig\u00e9simo primer a\u00f1o que los Tiospaye (familias emparentadas) de los Afraid Of Bear y American Horse han realizado la danza del sol en las Colinas Negras, haciendo honor a las orientaciones recibidas de varios ancianos, principalmente Larue Afraid Of Bear, que nos dijo hace d\u00e9cadas: \"Usa las Colinas Negras o pi\u00e9rdelas\".<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\"Es bueno que recordemos a los ancianos del Tiospaye que nos guiaron hasta las Colinas Negras; c\u00f3mo celebraron inipi durante varios a\u00f1os en diversos lugares, buscando el permiso inicial para la ceremonia; c\u00f3mo instruyeron al primer grupo de bailarines, compartieron las canciones de sus ancianos y establecieron la estructura y la secuencia de la gran ceremonia. En consideraci\u00f3n a los muchos aliados que han entrado en sus vidas a lo largo de las d\u00e9cadas, y en contemplaci\u00f3n de las instrucciones originales de la pipa sobre los cuatro colores sagrados de la humanidad, instruyeron como positiva la inclusi\u00f3n respetuosa de pueblos originarios de otras culturas y razas.\"<\/p>\n<p>Tom Cook: Portaestandarte y l\u00edder de la Danza del Sol<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Tras diez a\u00f1os en \"Grey Horn Butte\" (Torre del Diablo) y veinte en el Santuario del Caballo Salvaje, al sur de Hot Springs, este a\u00f1o nuestros ancianos tuvieron el placer de presentar una petici\u00f3n a la tribu sioux de Flandreau Santee y recibir su invitaci\u00f3n para continuar con este ritual en su tierra tribal, una hermosa extensi\u00f3n de tierras espirituales al sur de Cheyenne Crossing, en Dakota del Sur, en la carretera 85.<\/p>\n<p>En la Danza del Sol de este a\u00f1o, nuestros 68 bailarines estuvieron dirigidos por Willard Fool Bull, Jr. y el portaestandarte, Thomas Cook. La alineaci\u00f3n de la Danza comenz\u00f3 con Fool Bull sosteniendo ante s\u00ed un cr\u00e1neo de b\u00fafalo de 600 a\u00f1os de antig\u00fcedad proporcionado amablemente por Mae Inchimuk, mientras que Cook, portador del bast\u00f3n, llevaba el nuevo bast\u00f3n del Tiospaye, compuesto por una docena de antiguas plumas de \u00e1guila seleccionadas para el prop\u00f3sito a trav\u00e9s de la tradici\u00f3n familiar de educaci\u00f3n sobre el mundo natural, compartida con los Campamentos de Granja y Vida Silvestre de Plymouth, Vermont.
