Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA)

CUPA is a registered public charitable Trust for the welfare of animals located in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. From its humble beginnings in a single room, CUPA is today operating from multiple centres providing a wide range of facilities for pet, stray and wild animals that are sick, injured and abused.

Onaway’s consultant, Meenakshi Sundram, and Trust Administrator, David Watters, visited CUPA in November 2003. Both reported how thoroughly impressed they were by the compassion and dedication shown to the dogs, cats, monkeys and cows in their care.

“As you can imagine, the noise was continuous and you constantly had to watch your step as there were kittens leaping around everywhere – but all so very cute!!

“Suparna and Sanober, the Vice President and Secretary of CUPA explained how CUPA was managed on a daily basis and introduced us to the veterinary personnel and other essential staff as we walked around. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and happy to answer any questions we had. We left with a real understanding of how CUPA strives to deal with the problem of stray animals in India."
